FAQ
When using Intel Sandy Bridge CPU on Z77 series motherboards, there is limitation on overclocking the memory frequency. Please see below for more details.

Solution
When using Intel Sandy Bridge CPU on Z77 series motherboards, assuming there is no other overclocking bottleneck, the maximum memory frequency can only be overclocked up to 2133MHz. If you are using memory modules with higher frequency rating like DDR3 2200MHz, the system will automatically lower the memory operating frequency to ensure the system operations. However, if you manually set the memory frequency over 2133MHz in BIOS, the system may hang during POST. To resolve the power-up issue in this situation, please power off the system, and press the CLEAR CMOS button. Or, power on the system, and press the MEM OK button for a few seconds. Either action will allow the system to be able to boot up again.

If you are using Intel Ivy Bridge CPU, depending on the CPU specification and margin, you may be able to overclock the memory frequency up to 2800MHz as specified in the product specification.
