How to use Bluetooth headset on ASUS notebooks?



Solution

Under Windows XP operating system:

1.     First, please press FN+F2 on your notebook to enable Bluetooth.

Second, you should turn on the Bluetooth headphone and make sure it’s discoverable.

Then please right click the Bluetooth icon on the task bar and select Add New Connection. Then please click Next on Add New Connection Wizard.

2.      On the next window, you will be able to see all available devices listed. Please select your Bluetooth headset and click Next. If you can’t find your device listed, please check if you are using too much time so that the waiting time expires. You should shut down it and power on again then enable discoverable mode.

3.      At the next window, please type the passkey to pair the device with your computer. You can get the passkey from the headset manufacturer. For example, if the passkey is 0000, I just need to input these numbers and press OK.

4.      After the device has been correctly connected, you will be able to view your Bluetooth headset through Bluetooth Settings. You need to right click on the device and select Connect.

5.      If you still cannot get any sound from your headset, please check if the default playback device has been changed correctly. Usually, OS will change it automatically, but exceptions might happen on rare occasions.

You just need to click Start - Control Panel Sounds and Audio Devices, then click Audio and change default playback device to Bluetooth Wave.

If you still have any problem on Bluetooth headset connection, you might need to check whether your headset supports A2DP feature which is required.

If you are using Windows Vista operating system:


The steps of configuring Bluetooth headset are similar.

1.      First please power on your headset and make it discoverable. Then please right click the Bluetooth icon on the task bar and select Add a Bluetooth Device. Then please select “My device is set up and ready to be found” and click Next on Add Bluetooth Device Wizard.

2.      On the next window, you will be able to see all available devices listed. Please select your Bluetooth headset and click Next. If you can’t find your device listed, please check if you are using too much time so that the waiting time expires. You should shut down it and power on again then enable discoverable mode, then click Search Again.

3.      At the next window, please type the passkey to pair the device with your computer. You can get the passkey from the headset manufacturer. For example, if the passkey is 0000, I just need to input these numbers and press Next.

After these steps, Windows will configure and install the Bluetooth headset automatically. (If there is any abnormal on the driver installing, you can just install the Bluetooth driver from the Driver CD manually.) After this, the Bluetooth headset will be correctly configured.

Normally, Windows will be able to switch the default audio output to Bluetooth automatically. But in case your system can’t switch it automatically, you might need to switch default playback device. You can right click on the speaker icon on the task bar and select Playback Devices. Then select Bluetooth Stereo Audio as default playback device.

If you still can’t get any sound from your Bluetooth headset, please check if it supports A2DP feature which is required for audio output. You might also need to contact the manufacturer of your headset for more support.
