I am a first time DIY user, and would like to know how should the IDE cables be connected when I set my IDE devices to "Cable Selected" mode?
Can you please help me with that? (I am using the bundled IDE cable inside ASUS motherboard package)

Solution

You will see three connectors on the IDE cable defined into three colors as shown below:
Blue: Connect to IDE slots on your motherboard.
Black: Connect to the IDE device which you would like to set as IDE Master.
Gray: Connect to the IDE device which you would like to set as IDE Slave.

Please note: The above configuration only works when you set both drives to "cable select".
